KICK KICK KICK

Last night the baby was being a popple, or breakdancing :) I felt her moving a lot. I actually laid quiet and was able to slightly feel it from the outside of my stomach, so I had Michael lay down next to me, and he felt it too! Its nice to be able to share the first day we were able to feel the baby's movement with our hands. We think we have a name. We are sitting on it for a while, letting it sink in before we tell everyone. Its kindof a mixed review name, either people think its great or not at all. Hmmm.
til next time.
(This is just a popular picture that I copied from the internet, I would give credit, but I dont know the info to cite it properly, so all I can say is that this is not a picture taken of or by me)

OH EM GEEE

Can I just try to begin to explain my serious love and want to go and buy as many new pairs of cool boots as I can like, and find?
I know, right? ME! The person who wears flip flops devotionally, as if its part of my religion, and every once in a while I will wear a pair of rocket dog tennis shoes to go to a movie theater if I think it might be chilly, or if I am cutting the grass.
Mind you, I have only 1 pair of shoes that have laces, and those are a pair of hiking shoes that I have had since I was 13 and they were bought before my trip to Australia. The boots I got last year to replace the Boots that I loved bits and holes and pieces, they have laces. But still they were rocket dogs, and comfy, and the closest things I could find to replace the last non laced boots that died...
Anyhow. Yeah, for the past month or so, I have had serious boot love. I can't wait for it to cool down just so that I can pretend that Houston has a FALL and that I can wear a scarf, OH maybe even a long sleeved shirt, and BOOTS! Thats what I want. So I can at least be the fat pregnant lady luggin her cute toddler around, in super awesome boots. hahaha... Here's to dreaming, eh?

Catch up Ketchup

I started this blog forever ago, and I have only made like 23 posts. I guess its not that big of a deal, but for sure I am not posting a blog a day, nor even a blog a week. SO.... here goes me posting a blog, even though I don't really think I have anything blog worthy to blog about... let me ponder this. OOOOH wait, yes I do! Michael was bringing Josie downstairs yesterday before Avery was about to go home, and he was all excited because he swears that she said "Bye, Red Ball" and "Bye, Game room." Thats a big deal, she has been mildly curious about colors, enjoys the alphabet song, but her words aren't quite ready to say them all yet. So for her to say Red, let alone pair it with an object like ball, well YAHOO! Thats a first, and that AMAZE-A-ING!! Also never before have I heard her say the word game, let alone pairing it with room (a word she has been using this past week) She is saying phrases like "all gone" "all done" "I don't know" "a, bubby? which means where's bubby?" "more please" "I want food/juice, please" "There it/he/she is"
Other words that she says are Mom/mommy, Avery, Sarah, Andrew, Bubby, Bubba, Grammy, Daddy, Doggie, Read, See, ok, Yeah, No, YAY!, WAH WAH, Oh no, Nemo, Boat, Baby, Boo, Ball, Juice, Food, Hi, Bye, Mine, Empty, Roar, Shoes, Bumble bee, Kitty, T is her blanket, Moo, Vroom, beep-beep, peep-peep, along with noises that squirrels, fish, monsters, lions, tigers, bears, cats, dogs, bee's, pigs, and ducks make... (I am sure I have missed something here lol)
She is broadening her vocabulary at a steady pace, and likes me to read to her, so I at the very least try to read one book a day with her, even if its a bedtime story, she loves them. The more I read, and the more words she hears, the better she will be able to comprehend and hopefully say new words.
She is due for her 2 year old shots, which I think is just one shot... I have to check. I am considering trying to find a Pediatrician that I like here closer to home. Its a long drive to her Dr now, and on top of it, we have to pay for parking :( So yeah.
Today I am 18 weeks pregnant! We still haven't committed to a name yet. What goes well with Alice, or Darby, or Maggie, or Mae, or Lulu, or Mia, or Harley, or Harper? Which ones do I like the most? UGH decisions. Her kicks are getting stronger, little bit by little bit. They are on the cusp from changing from flutters to kicks and jabs. I will take them as little reminders to pick out a name already! hehehe.
Also this past weekend we had Damien, we watched him for Dave and Kerry while they went a gambling. He ended up spending the night. I have to say, finding something for a 2 and 3 year old set of girls, to pair up with something that a 10 year old boy would like to do was a bit of a challenge. Michael and I got it done though, and we even maybe had fun! haha.
Til next time.

Michaels Knee Surgery

We woke up at 4:30 in the morning. I took a shower, Michael could only brush his teeth. They said that if he wanted to get into the shower in the morning, that he could, but he could not use soap, especially on his knee because it would cause problems with their prepping his knee for surgery. This was us in the waiting room.
Josie thought it was seriously too early. As in it was still dark when we were driving. She kept asking where the moon and the stars were, and when she would see one, she would say, "THERE IT IS!" it cracked me up, Michael I think was a little too tired, no coffee, no shower and pre surgery and all.

Michaels knees before.
The pie I made for him. His Bye-Bye knee of doom, feel better pie (apple) Home made and everything, I even make the crust, which is what michael says makes it taste so good.
Josie and I waited in the waiting room from 7 something to about 9. The Surgery took about an hour, then they said that they would call me back once he was awake. Josie ate blueberries and pretzels and watched Finding Nemo on my laptop while I had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and coffee while looking through a magazine. By the time I was finished with the magazine, I was too sleepy to care to look through another one. So I played with my phone, etc, talked to Josie who was too interested in Nemo to really respond, and I swear I had to pee 90 times. HA.
When they let us come back, we were happy to see him, although he acted like he was just fine, I have had surgery and have been around people just out of surgery enough to know that just because people are awake and can talk, I KNOW they wont remember much of this. The anesthesia meds are some good ones, and part of the pain management they offer is the amnesia form being doped up well. :) The Nurse who was taking care of michael while we waited there for and extra 45 min to make sure he felt ok, no headache, no vomiting etc, then they would let him go home. All went well. He thought he could just walk out to the car ha, but thank god they have protocols where they have to wheel you in a chair out to the curb where your ride picks you up. They gave Josie and I a head start and we picked him up at the door. As we left the parking lot, he totally requested a Carmel Soy Latte which I was happy to oblige him with. We went and got coffee on our way to the pharmacy to pick up his pain med Rx, Josie had fallen asleep in the car while he sat with her and I went in to get his meds. We got home, and Michael wanted..... PIE so that he could take his Rx.
He doesn't remember me taking this pic, or eating the pie, probably why I was able to get him to smile a little. :)

These are the pictures from Sunday when he was able to take the dressing off and take a shower.

Today is Friday, he has his post op appt with his Dr. They will most likely take out his stiches and give him the ok to resume certain things, and to refer him to his Physical Therapist. He has a lot to do inorder to get back to 100% but he is doing remarkable better every day! Here soon we should be able to tell jsut how worth the surgery was. :)

Thank Heaven for little

Yesterday, Monday August, 17, 2009 at 17 weeks along, we had an appointment to go to the radiology department of the Women's Hospital to have them to an anatomy ultrasound. The main purpose is to make sure that the baby is doing everything that its suppose to be doing, and growing, OH and you can usually tell the gender. The Tech showed us the head, and the abdomen and then asked if we wanted to know the gender, and when I looked at the screen, I already knew. I said Its a girl! and she said yes, its a girl. HA Of course I smiled, because then I knew. Michael and I are both happy regardless and our only real preferences if to have a healthy and happy baby. Obviously since we do not have any little boys, it probably would have been a celebration for accomplishment, getting to have a boy and a girl in the first two try's, but instead we get to have a new baby girl. Its nice, we have tons of girl things, although I think its nice for everyone to have their own things and not just be destined to have nothing but hand me downs :) For Michael really though this is his third daughter, which I am a third daughter, so I have a lot in common with her already. Josie has broken a lot of the misconceptions for Michael and I that we may have had about girls, she is not too girly. She is fine with wearing a dress or wearing a skirt, will usually let me do her hair lol, likes to be the mama to her baby dolls, but also really likes dinosaurs, animals, cars, sports, won't watch a princess movie at all, but loves the movie cars, a bugs life, the bee movie, finding nemo, and monsters inc. We can totally handle two girls. Will there be any more babies in the future? I have no clue. We have to do it one at a time and figure out what we can handle and afford etc. Right now the number one thing for me is to figure out a name for this sweet little girl, so that when she meets the world, she will have an amazing, unique, special name of her very own. Wish us luck, we aren't able to agree on many names. :)

This and That

Last Saturday, Amanda, Erik and Laine came over for dinner. We all pitched in and made a southern shrimp boil with red beans and rice, and Amanda made Cornbread! Josie felt like a big girl holding Laine. They are the difference in age that Josie and Avery are, so some day when they are a lot older, maybe we can embarrass them with this picture heheheh.

Lately we have been making pictures for people. She has more of an interest in actually coloring a decent amount on a page, and I can ask her what some things are and she will say something like MEMOMEMOMEMOME (which is Nemo) or Bumble Bee, or Star, or Moon, or Meow (for a Cat) etc. I think its cute, and she likes practicing her coloring :) She holds a crayon well and is becoming a master of sticker application.

Then here is the part where I explain my life in terms of weeks of pregnancy that I am in hahah. This is me at 16 weeks 2 days.
I thought for a while, like from 13 weeks or so that I could feel little flutters when I would lay quietly on my back, but those don't seem to happen quite so much... so maybe the baby is just busy growing, and maybe when the baby is most active, maybe I am too and its just too little for me to notice it, and think its just normal belly functions. In 6 days, which is this coming Monday, we have an appointment to have the big Anatomy Ultrasound done at the hospital. I will be 17 weeks then, so its kinda on the early side of doing the scan... (as in I think I was 19 weeks when they did one when I was pregnant with Josie) but Michael will have Monday off, as his last day off post his knee surgery (which is tomorrow morning!) He wanted to be able to attend that ultrasound, so we figured that we would try to schedule it for a day that he already had off! I hope that we get to figure out the gender, and more importantly I hope that they are able to do a good scan of the baby, and that regardless of the gender, that it is healthy and thriving well.

In other news, Michael has been putting off the cause of his knee pain for a while. Last year, well almost 2 years ago maybe, he went to an orthopedist to get his knee checked out. Its painful for him, and they told him that he could have a tear in his meniscus, recently he went to the Dr. again and its apparent that he indeed needs surgery. It will be his first surgery, and he is nervous. He doesn't like the notion that he will be incapacitated and subject to scalpels and heavy drugs that will make him unaware to things being done to him. Thankfully he trusts his Dr. and believes that going through with the surgery will be for the best, as do I. So bright and early tomorrow morning we will arrive where we are suppose to at 6 am, he will be prepped for surgery to begin at 7:15, which should take about another hour, and I assume that we should be home by noon.
