This is so late its not even funny! Update on the rest of December 2009

So as I see, December 16 was the last time I posted a blog, so I guess I am due for some updating...

Yup, December 19, 2009, That's my Josephine being all dressed up like a Punky Brewster version of a Christmas elf HA, apparently this was her entourage for the day.

December 21, 2009
Sarah, Josie and I went to go see The Princess and the Frog at the movie theater, when we got out, there were HUGE Chipmunks, promoting the upcoming release of Alvin and the Chipmunks The Squeakquel. This is a video of Josie playing with the plastic figures. (good for a laugh)

December 22, Josie ate most of her first candy cane!

There are things from my childhood, traditions, that my mom always did around the holidays, and some of them I just have to follow through with in celebrating Christmas with my girls.
Some of these things are:
1. Decorating the house with Christmas "flare" i.e. the tree, stockings, christmas village, and the various cards that people send.
2. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation... Its just not Christmas time until that movie has been watched.
3. Advent calendars, you just have to have one, it doesn't HAVE to have chocolate, like last year we got a My Little Pony one for Avery, and a Littlest Pet Shop one for Josie... this year it seems like Target cut back on a lot of things, so a cheapo chocolate one it was. (seriously Target didn't even have Christmas photo frames! Yeah they had Halloween ones etc, but the forgot Christmas... snow globes only, pshht whatever.)
4. Baking... some sort of baking needs to happen. Cookies, cake, gingerbread, whatever floats your boat that year.
5. The popcorn tin, yeah the old, usually stale popcorn tin, in various tin styles that has "carmel", "cheese", and "butter" flavored popcorn in it. That was the tin that Josie picked out. She is so much like me, we both prefer the butter or the cheese popcorn for some reason. I suppose that there must just be some order necessary in the universe and we are the people who like the butter and cheese popcorn HA!

Then we find ourselves at Christmas Eve. Because my in-laws are divorced, we usually spend Christmas Eve at my father-in-law's house. Kelly always has the house and tree looking beautiful, and her family many times, comes over for a big dinner (that she and Rick go all out on) and then after dinner its presents time. There are tons of pictures from this day of course... so I will only post a few of the highlights. Josie got some really neat jammies and clothes, coloring tabs (huge ones!) crayons, markers, a jewelry box, fairy wings, books, stuffed animals, and more!

Her Christmas eve goodies from Nana Janet. That chair she is sitting on, used to be mine when I was her age. I can't believe that its still in the good shape that its in.
Josie in her Christmas eve present of new jammies and some Lightning McQueen slippers!
(Yes she is jumping up and down in them HA!)

I got an amazing set of new pots and pans! (yes that is what I asked for!)

Josie looking fancy in her new fairy wings!
Obviously I am super pregnant here... We missed not having Avery for this pic.

The day after Christmas we went back to my father in law's house for Avery to open her
Christmas presents, and to see Grandpa Rick and Kiki (that's what they call Kelly)

Christmas Day
Christmas was nice this year, Josie got to wake up, and come downstairs to see that Santa had visited! She got to open all of her presents then, Grammy was home too, so there was no waiting. We got Avery in the afternoon, after nap time, then Sarah and Andrew came over in the afternoon to celebrate Christmas with us.

I love Christmas morning... LOVE IT!

I made french toast for breakfast, since we were having Pizza for dinner lol.

That face right there sums up Christmas to me. :)

Helen (Grammy) and Avery.

December 27
After Avery went back home, Michael decided to try out the new Wii game that he got from Sarah for Christmas. It had been a while since he had played it, so Josie wanted to "play" with him.

I don't know what it is about new years eve, and me suddenly getting a tad sentimental, like all of a sudden it hits me that its the last day of the year, the whole year of 2009 was at an end, so I felt the need to poorly photo document the evening. Wanna see?!?! I know, you have read this far, what's a little more right?

MMM Josie KISSES!
My girl and I
Daddy getting some love too!

So, we obviously are a little tight on funds as usual, and so I had joked with Michael about what he would like for his special New Years Eve dinner, and he said Sushi. RIGHT! That was out of the question, BUT we had meatloaf, which we all liked, and I made home made mashed potatoes. At the end, I surprised him with his wish... ok so it was really meatloaf on mashed potatoes, with a side of shredded cheese instead of the real sushi, but it made him smile, and that made it worth it.

See? I told you it made him smile!

Goodnight sweet girl, see you next year!
